Should an emergency arise, knowing that you have an experienced and detail oriented professional caring for your animal family makes all the difference.

  • Someone who has an intake form that either they or you fill out.

    • This allows your pet sitter to gather important info about feeding, meds to be given, litter box location, favorite toys, whether windows can be opened etc.

  • Someone who has a veterinary release form and a concrete plan of what they will do in the event of a medical emergency.

    • This allows your pet sitter to get your veterinarian’s name and info and to agree upon a plan in case medical is needed

  • Someone with experience in pet care or working with animals.

  • Someone with a website. This shows their investment in their business.

  • Someone with insurance.

  • Someone who seems like they’d be calm under pressure. You don’t want to be problem solving an issues while you’re away on vacation!

  • Someone who does a pet sitting meet ad greet. (not doing this would be a HUGE red flag.)

  • Someone experienced in administering medication.

  • Pay attention to how your pet sitter responds to your pets. Red flags would be

    • Not respecting your pet’s space.

    • Someone who seems nervous around dogs.
